The area of the Carso around Gorizia begins just a little above the confluence of the Isonzo and Vipacco rivers; it is a unique area, undulating and strewn with round depressions – the dolinas – it is dotted with juniper and sumac bushes. In autumn these plants tinge the area red creating a marvellous, colourful scene.
